I had scheduled an appointment a month ahead. Was given a fax number for my old OBGYN office to fax over my records (they wouldn't take my insurance anymore) only to have my old doctors office to REFUSE to fax the records and demand $20 for me to get a copy made for me to bring to this office which they wanted before any visits. I can't afford an extra $20 + all the gas to drive from Pekin to Peoria and back just for a copy of my personal records. I told the scheduler on the phone and she was pretty rude about it. She basically made me feel like an idiot and had a rude tone "Well I don't understand what you're saying, that is how most offices do it now!" I was hoping they would be willing to try getting the records for me, so I wouldn't have to pay $20 plus gas that I can't afford. How am I to know that supposedly most places now charge for records yet refuse to fax them over when you instructed me to call my old doctor to have my records FAXED TO YOUR OFFICE?! I have had records sent between offices in other cases and never had I been charged a fee in my life. Most never have a problem faxing records over. Guess I was wrong. I also won't bother rescheduling my appointment here. Hopefully I can find an office with nicer staff. I was always told the first point of contact between a customer or patient is usually a secretary or scheduling staff, which is true. They set the tone for the office and can either leave people with a good impression or poor impression. Hopefully they see thus review and re-examine their attitudes.
In January I made an appointment for April to see Dr. Cox. My longtime OB/GYN's office closed and I wasn't able to obtain my medical records. The woman I scheduled my appointment with said that wasn't an issue and scheduled my appointment. In March someone from Dr. Cox's office called and gave me a phone number/hours to call my old doctor's office to obtain my medical records. I completed a form and sent in a request but no one sent my medical records so I am still waiting a month later. I called the same number during the designated hours but the number is now disconnected. I told this to the person who called me the day before the appointment. She said I would have to reschedule and I told her I was having some issues I need to be seen and also that I tried to obtain my medical records without being able to. She said I couldn't be seen without my medical records no matter the circumstances. This office lacks compassion and I don't recommend them to anyone.
